Peter Smith is a distinguished tennis coach whose career has significantly influenced collegiate and professional tennis. Beginning as the youngest Division I men’s head coach at Long Beach State, he later elevated programs at Fresno State and Pepperdine, consistently achieving top-25 national rankings. At the University of Southern California (USC), Smith’s leadership culminated in five NCAA Championships, including an impressive four consecutive titles from 2009 to 2012. His coaching excellence earned him multiple accolades, including two ITA National Coach of the Year awards and five Pac-12 Coach of the Year honors. Beyond collegiate achievements, Smith has been instrumental in developing players who transitioned successfully to the ATP tour, notably coaching Lleyton Hewitt from age six to seventeen, who went on to become a world number one.
