Solinco Collaborates with Artist Eddie Martinez and The Second Serve for a Fresh Take on the Whiteout 305 Racquet
The Solinco x Eddie Martinez racquet is available only at TheSecondServe.com.
Solinco has partnered with world-renowned artist, Eddie Martinez, and The Second Serve to launch a special edition of the Whiteout 305 racquet, available exclusively at TheSecondServe.com.
This collaboration brings together Solinco’s high-performance racquet with Eddie Martinez’s unique tennis ball and “blockhead” art, creating a stylish and functional racquet for serious players and collectors alike. Each Solinco x Eddie Martinez racquet comes with a copy of The Second Serve’s new magazine, OPEN (Tennis), Solinco Hyper-G strings, and exclusive stickers and dampeners. Limited to 100 pieces, the racquet is priced at $500. The collaboration also includes a capsule collection with Brain Dead Equipment, featuring apparel like shorts, T-shirts, and hats with Martinez’s designs.
“We really wanted to customize a racquet that not only has a unique design, but is also a high-performance stick that you can actually play tennis with,” says The Second Serve’s founder, David Shaftel. “We’ve seen many vanity frames that are mostly ornamental, or really special limited-edition frames that are in extremely limited quantities only available to pros, not amateur players. Our Whiteout changes all that.”
KT Kim, Solinco’s director, added, “Both Eddie and our design team share a playful and experimental approach to their craft. We were excited to explore Eddie’s artistic vision of tennis, creating an aesthetic unlike anything else on the market while staying true to Solinco’s performance standards in the racquet.“
Eddie Martinez, who has exhibitions at the Venice Biennale and Parrish Art Museum, found inspiration in his love for tennis. “The tennis ball came out of my love and obsession for the sport. A lot of times I’ll watch tennis while I work, and one day the tennis ball became a natural part of my art. The blockhead was my young reaction to Picasso and Basquiat that began in 2004—it just showed up everywhere in my work.”
