The 16 Year Old and Team Solinco Athlete is One of Youngest Ever to Compete in the US Open

The first-round of the US Open presents some exciting first-time encounters, potential seed upsets, and many returning Solinco athletes ready to make a splash. This year, Learner Tien will make his tennis major debut as one of the youngest players to compete in the men’s US Open main draw. The 16-year-old from Irvine, California earned an automatic entry into the tournament after winning the USTA Boys 18 National Hardcourts, defeating Ethan Quinn in a best-of-five final, 7-6, 7-6, 5-7, 6-3.

Tien has been a part of Team Solinco since the age of six. Throughout his rise through the junior rankings, Tien has stuck with the versatile polyester string, Tour Bite Soft. Designed and shaped to generate maximum power while amplifying the spin and bite intensity of the ball, the string suits Tien’s all-court style of play and dangerous shot variety.

Earlier this summer, Tien won the prestigious ITF International Spring Championships in San Diego. Going into the US Open, he is ranked No. 40 on the ITF Junior Ranking.

Competitors acknowledge Tien’s collectiveness as his competitive edge on court. Beside being fresh off of a hot streak season, Tien brings a new form of competitiveness and composure that we’re eager to see play out on the US Open stage. Tien will play against No. 32 seed Kecmanović in Round 1 on Monday.
